Poisoning a friend

Long time no see! Dark winter and no light makes erya a dull gal.

Just a quick post for you, today I did my friends hair for her.

She had Arctic Fox Poison with her, but her natural color is very dark, so I suggested that we’d add some Purple Rain on her roots, to spice uo the look

I started with poison on the ends, because it’s lighter and doesn’t mess up anything. After I dealt with that, I went in to the roots with the Purple Rain and fixed any spot I missed. After an hour,  washed it with cold water and added some conditioner to seal the deal. We didn’t use bleach this time,so I think we need to fix it up in a few days.

But I love the color combination and I think she was quite happy with it too, at least I hope so!

Loooooove the red on her!

Arctic Fox hair colors

Heyy!

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a looong time, but I wanted to be sure about the end result and usage before I announce anything rushed.
#nomakeup #dontgetscared #naturalface You got your warning!

I’M IN LOVE! As you may remember my earlier post from April, I’ve been blue (he-he) ever since. I found this new color brand from Instagram, and I wanted to give it a try, and for once I found something that seller ships worldwide and I can get my hands on!

Arctic Fox Hair color.
“Founded in 2014 by model and animal lover Kristen Leanne, Arctic Fox is one of the fastest growing hair color lines in the world.  Kristen has had a long love affair with bright, vivid hair colors. But like many, she struggled with the shortcomings of available brands.  After bonding with her partners over a shared passion for color, self expression, red wine and of course animals, they set out to create the best semi-permanent colors available today.”
They also use 15% of their profits to help prevent animal abuse, and are 100% cruelty free and vegan.

And they are not shibleebing with this. My earlier color faded within few washes, even if I mixed Igora with my conditioner, it wasn’t bright enough. Oh, why am I explaining, when I have the pictures to show you!

This is what we started out with, my hair actually looks brighter here than what it actually was, all faded out with blond sections and very pale blue.

dsc_3113dsc_3114

I ordered two bottles to start with, Purple Rain and Poseidon, thinking that I will restore my earlier two-tone hair color, but I saw one video of mixing these two colors together and I loved the result so that I wanted to try it myself.

I called out to a friend of mine, S, who came to help me with dyeing. We mixed approximately 2/3 of Poseidon and 1/3 of Puple Rain.

DSC_3126.jpg

It takes a bit less than the 8 oz bottle to dye all my hair.

dsc_3142

I let it sit for 45 minutes (conditioner based, semi-permanent colors don’t burn your head or hair, I sometimes leave it on for an hour!) and wash it off with shampoo. That minimizes the leaking which some hair dyes do.

dsc_3147dsc_3150

End result is to dye for! Perrfect shade of bluple. It did not leak on my neck or clothes or pillow, like all the others I’ve tried before.
After this first expriment, I didn’t do any touch ups or color fixing for a week, and it was the beginning of summer so I showered every other day, and here is what happened next.

dsc_3227dsc_3229

You can see some worn off chunks, and the color is lighter, but all and all the shade is still the same. As it’s described in AF website:
“All semi-permanent colors will fade, but not all fade equally.  Arctic Fox is formulated to fade within the original color spectrum, so as the color fades the shades will continue to be the gorgeous tones that your clients wanted.”
Count me in, I’m hooked! I would love to order one bottle each and take them to my hair stylist and see what she comes up with. She has tried af-colors for me once, as you might have seen in my Instagram, and fancied them.
And touch up is simple! Just a few drops of color mixed to your regular conditioner does the trick, these are super pigmented!

Color change is also fairly simple, for darker at least. My hair is bleached underneath, but we didn’t bleach it this time, and usually I just let the color removal sit on my roots for 15 min and wash it off, after that my hair is ready for semi-permanent colors.
I’m blond, my hair is straight, sleek and healthy, very glass-like, so I don’t need to bleach my hair for the shade, just for the texture.

We were invited to my friends graduation party, and I wanted something different for that, I let the color fade for a week, added more Purple Rain than Poseidon and ta-dah, here it is!

dsc_3247

You can see this color in direct sunlight in my Ig-profile, there it seems to be a lot more purple.

All and all, I recommend Arctic Fox to all who use bright colors and love to try different shades! You can find the diluter (Arctic Mist) to mix up some sweet pastels, or mix the colors like I did, possibilities are infinite!
Second positive thing is the price. These bottles are as expensive as many other brands, $13,99, but the thing is, you get 8 0z. of product, where many others have 4 oz. You an choose the 4 oz. bottle for $7,99, but where’s the fun in that?
Third, the smell. When you get the package and open it up, the one thing that you’ll notice is the scent. It’s not too strong, and it is delicious, grapes of bubblegum or something sweet like that! I love it! I had to dye my mums hair with a regular permanent hair dye, and I already forgot how bad they smell now that I’m used to use Arctic Fox, ha.

We have ordered a couple times after this as a group, and I’ve turned few of my friends to regular af-users too! I recieved the shipping info for the last order yesterday, and this time I ordered something different, with the “blurple” combination. Well see!

Oh, and everytime you order, you’ll get points to get discounts! And inviting friends can get you points also, so here is my INVITE.
By using this link, you’ll earn me 25 points each, so if you’re interested and want to join Arctic Fox, please do me this favor! After you’ve joined, you can invite your friends and followers with your own link and get the same 25 points per person!

Life’s too short to have a boring hair!

Happy Halloween !

A friend of mine fixed their annual Halloween-party on Saturday, I participate when I’m not working and this year I was off.

So, on a short notice, what to wear? I watched a thousand YouTube video-tutorials, Googled pictures and ideas and this is what I came up with. YouTube granted me with Alex Faction Voodoo priest-tutorial and I was keen to try it!

Emppi took some pictures, these first two are from her 🙂

I started with Kicks moisturizing primer and topped it with Clinique Redness solution primer. First I lined the skull with white liner amd filled it in with Grimas water activated face paint in white.

Errmm. This one I sent to a friend, but what the doodle, I show it to you too.

I lined the skull with Grimas kohl-liner in gray and smudged it out with some dark brown/taupe eyeshadow. I also lined my eye-area and nose. When I was happy with my blending, I darkened up the line with some black pencil liner.

I also added some shading to the skull with pencil liners, brown eyeshadow and my contouring palette.

To my chin area I used my regular products, Clinique Redness solutions foundation and W7 contour palette.

To my eyes, I used NYX Liquid Gold and my lid and Benefit Quick, Look busy on my crease, I also lightened my browbone with a nude shadow from Kryolan. I did my brows on my regular way, just darkened them up a little.

Lips I lined with black pencil and used some metallic green Kryolan cream eyeshadow (I just love sample jars woth no names..) on the middle part.Finished off everything with Mehron Setting powder in translucent.

Kimmo’s costume is a whole another story, that man loves Halloween more than I do!

I’m so sorry about the awful lightning , but I can’t fit myself in a light box.  Here’s my whole outfit, little voodoo-doll and everything! I teased my hair and wore my HRC-hat with it. Knee-high socks, two petticoats and a black shirt, few necklaces and a bracelet, I’m happy how this turned out, in less than a week.

My hubbys fave is made with Grimas face paints in white and black. He wore a top hat, which is missing in the picture .

Have a horrific Halloween!

NYX Lip Lingerie

This autumn I got the obsession, that I have to buy a brown lipstick. I want it, I need it! I’ve never tried one before, only reds, so why not buy three to try out more shades at once?

I ordered these from Pretty.fi with my own money. In the package was one golden eyeshadow too, but more of that later.

My skin is pale, tone is in the colder side, so I went with shades that looked cool. Does this make any sence? On the picture there are, from left to right, Corset, Honeymoon and Beauty Mark.

I did these swatches quick after receiving the ordee, without any liner or priming, so don’t shoot me! Pics are taken in natural light with my OnePlus3.

First one up was Corset. Shade is grayish, cool, beigelike color. I could wear this in everyday use, it’s pale but still edgy enough, rather this than any pale pink for me.

Second one is Honeymoon. This shade is just as right in between as I thought, darker than Corset but lighter than BM. Maybe not for everyday, but I really like this shade too. I need to get used to wear other than classic red, but i think I can rock this out.

Last but certainly not the least is the Beauty Mark. It has a bit more warmth in it, but stays on the cool side. Dark, burgundy brown, which suits my pale skin perfectly. For evenings out and parties. I think it seems a bit light on my pic,  and the true shade is off, it is a bit darker in person.

All and all, I can see myself wearing these daily, for me there are no restrictions how to look while working or just going to store. Paler shade is easier to go with, but darker one can save an otherwise tired or boring look.

Quality seems great, just what I would expect from NYX. Lip lingerie dries matte, a bit sticky, but doesn’t make a mess and stays put. Stickiness I notice when I rub my lips together, but not when I touch them with my finger. I don’t recommend these, if you have very dry lips, these show every rip and bump.

And these stick on like a flu, easiest way to remove Lip lingerie from your lips is oil or moisturizer, I noticed this while swatching. Micellar water did nothing! So I hope that it means a long lasting wear.

4/5, scent is okay, lipstick-like but disappears soon after applying, feels a bit dry but still comfortable, wear seems long lasting and colors are awesome. You’ll be seeing a lot of these in the future!

Madara Cosmetics #2

Hey guys!

I told you earlier that I ordered more Madara products, and they arrived in on Monday, yay! Decided to put the Micellar water through the ultimate test right away.

Still loving the design.

Will it remove my makeup? (add dramatic music here)

So, I  have my full face on: Base, cover stick, foundation, powder, contour/highlighter and blush. Eyeshadow, liner, mascara, browpen and -color. I think that’s all!

Makeup has been on for eight hours and I was at work, so it’s a bit worn off.

Sorry for the funny angle, my bathroom disagrees with the lighting. Okay, so, Micellar water, attack! Here is the first pad, with half of my face. And what’s left of it:

Boo! Don’t freak out, it’s still me.

So not bad, it removed a ton of slap from my face and doesn’t irritate too much.  Couldn’t notice any scent while using the water, and forgot to sniff it from the bottle.

Here are all the pads I used:

One for each side and one for finishing. I like what I see!

Micellar water I used before, took me from 4 to 8 pads to get my face all clean! Eyeliner fought back hard, but this guy went in kicking down doors and beat everything up!

All clean and fresh-but-not-so-fresh-tired-af-from-work-face! Redness mainly is from wiping and rubbing my face with cotton pads, my skin calmed down in minutes.

4/5, I still prefer a proper facial wash, but this will be my savior while traveling or just being too effin tired. Like, for 3-5 times a week.

I also tried out the moisturizer, went in straight after the Micellar.

It’s very thick when pumping it from the bottle, but also very sufficient. This little pea in the pic, is just enough to cover my whole  face.

Scent is lime or lemon(grass?)-like, fresh and not too strong. Citrus anyway. Moisturizer itself is surprisingly light, absorbs quick and easy, leaves my skin soft but not oily. I know that I need a serum with it, ot a thicker moisturizer for the winter time, but for now this is enough.

4,5/5, love the scent and everything, but it could be a bit more efficient.

These I can recommend for all skin types, they are gentle but efficient, light but moisturizing and very reasonably priced.

I’ve found myself a new skincare serie and I’m loving it!

Madara Cosmetics

Hey guys! Long time in silence again, I had to put my blog on ice for summer. We got a new puppy, I had the busiest time in work and when that was dealt with, we moved our apartment. Moving was at the beginning of August, and I still have my polishes all in boxes, because I have no shelf to put them in. I KNOW, horrible isn’t it?

But, now it’s autumn and everything is getting back on track. Recently I got a hint from a friend about this organic cosmetics serie called Madara Cosmetics and their upcoming sale.

Madara is said to be ecological, safe and effient, mainly vegan and cruelty-free. They do have the ECOCERT certificate, and that proves that they only use natural ingredients. Efficiency is dermatologically tested and the very heart of Madara products is flowers and herbs from the Baltic meadows and forests. You can find more information on their FAQ-page.

I couldn’t wait for the sale, so I used my “Subscribe to our newsletter and get 15% discount for your first order”-code and got a cleanser and a toner. I ordered from their Finnish webstore, so delivery came in after two days.

Bottles are pretty, design is clean and very classic, almost healthy looking.

Cleansing milk says :”Creamy and soothing milk with Northern Oat and Linden Flower cleanses gently and effectively. Removes makeup. Helps maintain the skins moisture barrier. Skin feels soft, supple and comfortably clean, never dry.–”

Comforting Toner: “Discover softer and smoother skin with this comforting essence. Instantly soothens and calms sensitive, dry and tight skin. Deeply tones and hydrates. Regulates the pH balance, prevents skin irritation. –”

My skin is dry, very sensitive and gets easily red. Moisturizer can’t be too thick, so I have to play around with serums and stuff. On summer I can give myself some slack, but when weather gets colder and drier on autumn and winter, I need to fix my armory. Or my bathroom cupboard, but you know.

SO, first up was the cleanser. Scent is kinda flowery. Not nearly as earthy and moldy as in organic products I’ve tried before. Not the best fragrance, but also not too strong and bothering. Consistency is very creamy and on thicker side. Small amount is enough, the cleaner spreads easily. I always use my Oriflame facial brush when cleaning, so with that the cleaner didn’t foam. I tried both ways, to rinse and to wipe it off with the toner and both worked fine to me, removed my makeup and left my skin feel clean but not dry, which is quite surprising. Usually gentle organic cleansers don’t wash off my makeup too well and the stronger ones dry up my face like Sahara desert.

So it’s a 4,5/5 to cleanser, only negative is the scent.

Toner is just a clear water-like liquid, as toners usually are. Scent is granny-like, some flowers in it, but again, nothing too strong. Just a small amount to a cotton pad is enough, whether you use it to wipe off the cleanser or finish after rinsing.

Left my skin feeling so elastic, clean and healthy, I almost skipped my moisturizer! But not a bit oily or irritated. Very refreshing!

4,5/5 points to this one too, again it’s the scent.

Here’s my face after, not nearly as much redness as after some cleansers and no eyeliner or mascara leftovers, yay! I need to plug my brows, geez!

All and all, I love these products! They are way cheaper that what I’ve been using until now,  and I was sure that nothing else will work. I did put in a new order and my Deep moisture cream and Micellar water are on their way. Let you know more when they reach me.

I recommend these to everybody, but first of all if you want ecological and vegan products and second, if your skin is sensitive and you’ve lost all hope with inexpensive products. Just check out the ingredients list if you’re an allergic and pick what suits you. I also like that they have categorized their page with skintypes, so you don’t have to go through everything in the store to find out what might suit your skin. Try it out, if it suits you and if not, pass it for a friend.

These are going to be my go to products now on.

Oh, and let me know how this post looks, I tried the WP app and wrote this with my phone, and pictures are phone taken too! Can I continue or do I go back to my laptop?

Finland vs. Canada

Today’s the day! Ice hockey world championship final! Finland made it to final and is going  head to head with Canada.

Final game starts at 20.45 (GMT+2) and we’re cheering for Finland naturally.
A bar or a pub, game-shirts, anything white and blue are included in look of the day, so are my nails!

Captain calling, a goal, Finnish flag and some glitter and gold, those are my recipe to victory. Here you go:

DSC_3103

I started out with Essie Blanc, which is base to all my nails. Then I did a gradient with Blanc and Colors by Llarowe Independence Day (how convenient) to all but ring fingers.
Ring fingers got a cross painted on with Kick Sugar Lacquer Majorelle Garden.

Pinky got a frosting with KbShimer Dust in the Bottle.
I stamped the net on middle finger from BundleMonster BM-209. Black stamping polish is Mundo de Uñas Black and red edges are painted on with Essie Dress to Kilt.
C for captain is from NailzCraze NC05, also with MdU Black
“Keep calm and Hammertime” is stamped with MdU Gold from MoYou London Rebel 05.

I’m really happy how these turned out, I also matched my make up to these 🙂
