Finland vs. Canada

Today’s the day! Ice hockey world championship final! Finland made it to final and is going  head to head with Canada.

Final game starts at 20.45 (GMT+2) and we’re cheering for Finland naturally.
A bar or a pub, game-shirts, anything white and blue are included in look of the day, so are my nails!

Captain calling, a goal, Finnish flag and some glitter and gold, those are my recipe to victory. Here you go:

DSC_3103

I started out with Essie Blanc, which is base to all my nails. Then I did a gradient with Blanc and Colors by Llarowe Independence Day (how convenient) to all but ring fingers.
Ring fingers got a cross painted on with Kick Sugar Lacquer Majorelle Garden.

Pinky got a frosting with KbShimer Dust in the Bottle.
I stamped the net on middle finger from BundleMonster BM-209. Black stamping polish is Mundo de Uñas Black and red edges are painted on with Essie Dress to Kilt.
C for captain is from NailzCraze NC05, also with MdU Black
“Keep calm and Hammertime” is stamped with MdU Gold from MoYou London Rebel 05.

I’m really happy how these turned out, I also matched my make up to these 🙂

Neon green for sail

Hello dearies! Long time not seen my nails (mwah mwah.)
So yes! Finally I have something to look at on my nails! Wohoo!

Finally, spring is here (it is, what do you mean it still rains and/or snows? Shush!) and it’s time to take out the pastels and NEONS! I love neon colors on my nails and my make up!

03

This time I started out with Essie Blanc and coated it with KbShimmer For Sail By Owner. So briiight it hurts my eyes. Lovely, loooovely neon green!

I didn’t have the time nor the interest to do anything that takes too much time (it was 4am), so once again, stamp stamp stamp.

02

For stamping I used MdU Black and Fauxnad plate QA8.

05

Okay, my nails are not that even, but better than before. I broke both my middle finger nails, left index and almost my thumb. Yay.

06

Then i went through my “box of pretty nail decorating thingies” and found my black square studs. Attached them with clear polish and coated everything with Essie Gel Setter.

01

I just wanted to share all these pictures with you, but I got nothing more to say, so it’s once sentence here, another there. LOOK AT MY PRETTIEH NAILS!

Aaand finally the stuff I used.

Yay!

You can’t polish short nails?

I often hear from people I meet, that you can’t polish and decorate short nails, because there is no room and it doesn’t look pretty.
“Don’t look at my nails, they’re ugly!” or “Could you do me a manicure when my nails are longer?” are the most common things I hear.

No. I don’t care how your nails look, I don’t notice them unless you specifically show them to me. I know that everyone don’t have the time, chance or interest to spend 12 hours a week doing their nails, as I do.

And yes, I can do a mani for you then, but I could also do it now. Short nails are not “un-polishable”! Let me show you!

I have a friend who just cut her nails short, and has psoriasis, so her cuticles can be extremely dry from time to time. Today she had some worn off dark polish on her nails, so the change is more radical.

Here’s where we started from. Grown, dry cuticles, worn off polish and cut (not filed!) nails:

before

At first we showed some acetone to her nails.

before3before2

I started with soaking her fingers in warm water, so that cuticles would soften up. Then I went around with Nfu’Oh Cuticle remover and a silicone pusher, cuticle cutters, filed free edges and buffed the surface. If you can’t wear polish because of your work etc., this is enough! Fixing your cuticles can make your nails look longer even without polish. So they look finished and cared of. Before filing and buffing, make sure that your nails are dry.

Then we got to the polish part. Essie First base is my go to base, for color we chose a pretty nude polish this time. Essie Sand Tropez got a layer of KbShimmer Owl Miss You on top. KbS OMY is sooo pretty, sand-like nude with little golden flakes in it. I bought this second hand from Eve’s Temptations.

Swirly stamp is from BundleMonster plate BM-607 and MdU Black. I topped the whole thing with Essie Good To Go. Some cleaning on the edges and we’re done. Pretty, decorated, short nails!

Squishy stampin (O.P.I Color Paints #2)

I think I saw this technique in Instagram, from Sveta Sanders‘ page. And I fell in love, no saran wrap (I almost misspelled that at “satan”, which isn’t actually that far..), no sponge dabbing (tried to do some galaxies a while ago.. There’s a reason I didn’t publish those), just few polishes and a stamper. Yay!

AYNIL2

I picked out pink and purple from Color Paints set, but it has no blue, so I went with some bling with them and chose Llarowe Colors Good Fortune.

Base I polished with Essie Blanc, so that CP-colors would show. Dropped some spots on my stamper randomly and just dab dab dab on the nail it goes!

AYNIL

The EASIEST way to get this smoky/galaxy/watercolory look on your nails!

I did these on Valentines Day, so of course they needed some love on them 🙂

AYNIL3

I picked out my Born Pretty Store plate and , stamped the designs on with MdU White and All you need is a bit of love 😉 And I still don’t get along with my Clear Jelly Stamper. Geez.

Nails for someone else.

Heyyy you guys!

I’m sorry I’ve been away for awhile. I got this “greatest flu-virus of the year” in January, and last thing I want to do while sneezing my brains out and coughing my sides sore, is to smell acetone and nail polish.
I have done few simple manis for myself, just plain one color or basic french, and it didn’t even come to my mind to take pictures of them.

My sister was visiting us at the end of Jan, so I promised I’d fix her nails if nothing else. She found this one picture from @nailsbyfreckles, and told me that she wanted those. (I don’t have the link to the original picture, but I believe you can find this profile from Instagram.)

Ennin polka2

I had to shorten her nails a bit, well, a bit more because she had broken two of her nails, and she said that never they have been so short 😀  I’m actually thinking that I need to take “before and after” pics next time I fix her nails, the change is quite effective!

First I went on with Essie Blank for two layers. After it dried up a little, I lined nails half with a thin brush and Essie Turquoise & Caicos and finally filled the halves in.

Ennin polka4

Then I lined middle parts again with Essie Licorice and did the polka dot pattern with a dotting tool. In original picture there is  a rhinestone or a full bow tie charm on the nail, but we wanted these to last longer, so I just painted the bow tie on ring finger and thumb. I finished with Essence Satin Matte topcoat and done!

Ennin polka

She was happy and so was I, these are cute and suit well for a K-pop fan, such as my sis 😀 Always glad to make a customer satisfied! Yet shitty lighting in pics!

Roses with golden twist

This time I wanted to do something that needs a bit more effort. So off with the stamping plates this time, vinyls and dotting tool it is.

goldieroses6

I saw this one video in Nail Art Design Magazine-Facebook page (can’t find it anymore) which gave me the idea for roses.

I arranged my polishes and wrote names on all swatch sticks (and most of them were without label..) and wanted to use some polishes I haven’t actually found in a while (since we moved I have no shelf to keep my polishes.)

goldieroses3

I started out with fixing my broken thumbnail and Essie First Base and Fill the Gap. Middle- and ring finger got a coat of Essie Good as Gold, rest I polished with Essie Licorice.

goldieroses2

Middle finger I topped with three coats of F.U.N Lacquer King, ring finger got its shape with some chevron vinyls and Licorice.

goldieroses5

Other nails I decorated with roses which I painted on with a dotting tool and Mundo de Uñas Mexican Pink and Reddish, leaves with and Essie Go Overboard.

goldieroses

Added some As Gold as it Gets from Essie on corners of the rose decorated nails and finished the whole manicure, except my middle finger, with Essence Satin Matte top coat.

I really think that the result is wonderful! Well, I need some more practice with the vinyls, they always leak for me.
I really need to get myself together and start doing more manis like this! 🙂

Nighty deerie

I really need to take a “how to name your blogposts” lesson 😀

This is the first mani I made after the trip, and I love it! Well, nothing ever goes as planned, I was supposed to do the gradient other way around, but other then that 😀

wintermoose2

I sponged polished straight on top of base coat, and I used four different colors:

Essie Bikini so Teeny
Essie Make Some Noise
Essie Bell-bottom Blues
W7 Blue Lagoon

wintermoose3

After four layers of sponging, I topped it of with Essence I ❤ Magic and KbShimmer I Only Have Ice For You to make a vision of a starry night sky.

Then I stamped this deer on my ring finger, from HeHe plate 032 (Harry Potter-collection) with Mundo de Uñas Blac and finally topped everything with Essence Satin Matt.

wintermoose

And so it happened that it’s truly freezing in here, -18 Celsius, so my nails fit the weather too! I like the end result, even though I was meant to reverse the gradient, and my new clear stamper from Dashica didn’t make it too perfect while stamping.

Stay warm!
