Trying out new foundations #1

I’m on a mission. A mission to find me a new foundation. There’s really nothing wrong with Clinique Redness Solutions foundation, but yet it’s not enough, if you get me?

I want just a bit more cover, and a better stay, but I don’t want waterproof makeup.

This task is not going to be easy, I tell you! Usually when there’s enough cover, they don’t make it pale enough. If they do, they either have pink or yellow undertone, which suits me none. And my skin is quite dry. Yay?

A neutral, great cover, pale as a paper and doesn’t suck up all the moisture from my skin. Impossible?

Yesterday I got two samples to try out from Emotion:

Clinique Even Better in shade CN28 and Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear 005.

Today I put Clinique to test. Shitty picture warning.

This is my face in all of it’s gorgeousness. Red-ish with few blemishes, pale but not even. Huuuge pores. Unedited and daylight.

I treated it like any other foundation, with NYX Professional Makeup Studio Perfect primer, my Kicks foundation brush and Kicks Beauty Perfect Finish – setting spray.

In these pics I have the foundation on the right (your left) side of my face.

I was pleasantly surprised how it covered the redness! You can still see through in some parts, but not so that I couldn’t live with it. Not as covering as Redness Solutions but okay.

I went on with the rest of my make up. Powdered up and brows and lashes:

After doing my eyes, blush, highlighter and lack of daylight:

Then off to work. From 10pm to 4am. Oh, and I wore my glasses for the whole night. Result of the wear-test:

As you can(not) see, it still is quite matte on my cheeks, but oily on the T-zone. My forehead and nose shine a bit, but on defense, now you know why I don’t have bangs anymore. I could see a little bit of oxidation, it got a wee bit too dark or me. And you can see some marks left by my glasses.

Swipe test:

I’m used to not touching my face while working, but I’d like to find a foundation that doesn’t run around too much in few hours. So, I just swiped semi-lightly across my forehead with two fingers and as you can see, it did leave a mark. Not as bad as CRS, but it moved. 6,5 hours, I know, but a bit longer time could be nice.

Over all, Clinique Even Better is definitely not a bad foundation. If you have darker skin tone than me and maybe a little less oily forehead, I think you’ll find this very workable.

For me, I like it, but I don’t love it, I didn’t find my holy grail with this one.

Any suggestions? #desperate

Balms Away

Hey lustfuls!

I’ve had some real sh*t going on in my personal life for last year. 2017 was one of the worst, but at the same time it was one of the best years I’ve ever lived through.

Springtime brought me a divorce. Summer and early autumn was the worst ever. First I was working in two places and then I lost someone very special to me. I’ve been tired and didn’t feel like doing anything extra on my freetime.

But none of those things have nothing to do with cosmetics, so I’ll leave the rest out of my blog, just wanted to shed some light at the reasons why I haven’t been posting anything in a year.

I have been trying out new products, found some new favorites and I finally have my own cosmetic-corner in our bedroom which I love! So now I feel like I have all this new, refreshed energy to start posting.

I recently made two orders to and today I received the later one. I’m so excited for these products, that I finally got the urge to make a post!

This post contains two products from this order: theBalm Balms Away eye makeup remover and L’Oréal Paris Nutri Gold Extraordinary Oil.

You know that feeling, when your makeup remover needs to be gentle so it doesn’t irritate and dry your skin, but strong enough to get rid of all your mascara and eyeliner. Yeah, I know, black undereyes, even after using a toner. I usually wash my face twice, with a makeup remover and one meant for sensitive skin, and still I need to wash my eyes with soap or something. Most of the time I still look like a junkie in the morning, because I have some black under my eyes. I was so excited for this product that this is one of the two main reasons I put my order in.

Balms Away is a soft, vaseline-like, white to transparent substance, that almost melts on your fingers.

Take a small amount of product, spread it over a closed eyelid and brows. Rub it gently so it starts to remove the makeup and wipe with a cloth or a cotton pad etc.

I had some mascara and liner on from night before (hem, a little red wine and I was too tired to was my face) and Anastasia Dip brow.

I used a cotton pad to wipe and finished with Lumene Hellä soothing face tonic.

Couldn’t believe my eyes, no leftovers, no black marks under eyes, and best of all, no loose lashes or tingling eye area.

All this with BA and ONE SINGLE COTTON PAD!

Balms Away is extremely gentle, doesn’t leave your face greasy or tacky, pulls off makeup amazingly well and wipes off easily removing all makeup with it. I’m sold. 5/5!

I’ve wanted to try face oils for a long time now, because my skin is sensitive, dry and easily irritated. L’oreal I picked out just because of the reviews.

Nutri Gold is said to be intensively nutritious, it brightens your skin and makes your skin velvety soft. NG contains apricot seed- and jojoba oils, and essential oils from rose, orange and lavender.

Warm 2-3 oil drops between your hands and dab it on your face. You can add more oil if you have dryer patches on your face.

I did as suggested and on top I used Madara Cosmetics Ultra Rich Balm DD nettle. Scent is a bit strong, but fades quickly and isn’t overwhelming to me. First it feels that 3 drops is not nearly enough, but after I started dabbing it all over my face, it was enough. Added one extra drop on my forehead, but could’ve lived without.

My face haven’t been this soft in ages! And no redness of any kind, usually my face slightly reacts to new products with redness.

I’m going to continue using both of these products these and if let you know if anything radical happens, one way or another.

Have you tried either of these?

Arctic Fox hair colors

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a looong time, but I wanted to be sure about the end result and usage before I announce anything rushed.
#nomakeup #dontgetscared #naturalface You got your warning!

I’M IN LOVE! As you may remember my earlier post from April, I’ve been blue (he-he) ever since. I found this new color brand from Instagram, and I wanted to give it a try, and for once I found something that seller ships worldwide and I can get my hands on!

Arctic Fox Hair color.
“Founded in 2014 by model and animal lover Kristen Leanne, Arctic Fox is one of the fastest growing hair color lines in the world.  Kristen has had a long love affair with bright, vivid hair colors. But like many, she struggled with the shortcomings of available brands.  After bonding with her partners over a shared passion for color, self expression, red wine and of course animals, they set out to create the best semi-permanent colors available today.”
They also use 15% of their profits to help prevent animal abuse, and are 100% cruelty free and vegan.

And they are not shibleebing with this. My earlier color faded within few washes, even if I mixed Igora with my conditioner, it wasn’t bright enough. Oh, why am I explaining, when I have the pictures to show you!

This is what we started out with, my hair actually looks brighter here than what it actually was, all faded out with blond sections and very pale blue.

I ordered two bottles to start with, Purple Rain and Poseidon, thinking that I will restore my earlier two-tone hair color, but I saw one video of mixing these two colors together and I loved the result so that I wanted to try it myself.

I called out to a friend of mine, S, who came to help me with dyeing. We mixed approximately 2/3 of Poseidon and 1/3 of Puple Rain.

It takes a bit less than the 8 oz bottle to dye all my hair.

I let it sit for 45 minutes (conditioner based, semi-permanent colors don’t burn your head or hair, I sometimes leave it on for an hour!) and wash it off with shampoo. That minimizes the leaking which some hair dyes do.

End result is to dye for! Perrfect shade of bluple. It did not leak on my neck or clothes or pillow, like all the others I’ve tried before.
After this first expriment, I didn’t do any touch ups or color fixing for a week, and it was the beginning of summer so I showered every other day, and here is what happened next.

You can see some worn off chunks, and the color is lighter, but all and all the shade is still the same. As it’s described in AF website:
“All semi-permanent colors will fade, but not all fade equally.  Arctic Fox is formulated to fade within the original color spectrum, so as the color fades the shades will continue to be the gorgeous tones that your clients wanted.”
Count me in, I’m hooked! I would love to order one bottle each and take them to my hair stylist and see what she comes up with. She has tried af-colors for me once, as you might have seen in my Instagram, and fancied them.
And touch up is simple! Just a few drops of color mixed to your regular conditioner does the trick, these are super pigmented!

Color change is also fairly simple, for darker at least. My hair is bleached underneath, but we didn’t bleach it this time, and usually I just let the color removal sit on my roots for 15 min and wash it off, after that my hair is ready for semi-permanent colors.
I’m blond, my hair is straight, sleek and healthy, very glass-like, so I don’t need to bleach my hair for the shade, just for the texture.

We were invited to my friends graduation party, and I wanted something different for that, I let the color fade for a week, added more Purple Rain than Poseidon and ta-dah, here it is!

You can see this color in direct sunlight in my Ig-profile, there it seems to be a lot more purple.

All and all, I recommend Arctic Fox to all who use bright colors and love to try different shades! You can find the diluter (Arctic Mist) to mix up some sweet pastels, or mix the colors like I did, possibilities are infinite!
Second positive thing is the price. These bottles are as expensive as many other brands, $13,99, but the thing is, you get 8 0z. of product, where many others have 4 oz. You an choose the 4 oz. bottle for $7,99, but where’s the fun in that?
Third, the smell. When you get the package and open it up, the one thing that you’ll notice is the scent. It’s not too strong, and it is delicious, grapes of bubblegum or something sweet like that! I love it! I had to dye my mums hair with a regular permanent hair dye, and I already forgot how bad they smell now that I’m used to use Arctic Fox, ha.

We have ordered a couple times after this as a group, and I’ve turned few of my friends to regular af-users too! I recieved the shipping info for the last order yesterday, and this time I ordered something different, with the “blurple” combination. Well see!

Oh, and everytime you order, you’ll get points to get discounts! And inviting friends can get you points also, so here is my INVITE.
By using this link, you’ll earn me 25 points each, so if you’re interested and want to join Arctic Fox, please do me this favor! After you’ve joined, you can invite your friends and followers with your own link and get the same 25 points per person!

Life’s too short to have a boring hair!

There are no commercial value in this post (except the invite link!), I have bought all the products with my own money and my opinion is honest. C’mon, I have no sponsors yet!
